Information ArchitectureWho is Daedalus?
In Greek mythology, Daedalus was the architect who designed the Labyrinth of Minos intended to contain the half-man, half-beast Minotaur. Only Daedalus knew the true path through the labyrinth. In a moment of sympathetic weakness, he shared the secret of the labyrinth with Ariadne so that she could rescue her lover, unfairly imprisoned by the king. For this kindness, Daedalus' punishment was to be entombed in the labyrinth with his son Icarus. Undaunted, Daedalus used his wayfinding skills to guide him and Icarus to freedom.
